FAQ
-
How much does it cost?
Please read through the process on the homepage, and my pricing page. There are no set costs and everything gets quoted. I work on $50.00/hr and my minimum is one hour; if we do more than five mock-up designs I charge a flat fee of $20.00 for my time. I quote based on an hourly estimate, and once quoted, your rate is locked in for 30 days. I calculate the time needed to complete your project based upon size, complexity, and my understanding of how quick I can work, while honoring the budget you wish to stay within and that your project must be of high quality.
-
Do you accept returns, exchanges or refunds? What happens if my item breaks?
In general, there are no returns or refunds. To remedy the anxiety that a statement such as that triggers, I have the EngraveBeast guarantee — please see the full disclosure at the bottom of this page. The work I do is permanent and the services rendered are extremely time consuming. Therefore, art will not be redone free of cost on larger projects. Full outlines of costs associated in guarantee disclosure below.

Is the artwork on my car road legal?
Buyers responsibility. I am not responsible to assure it is legal in your state, county, city or town. Legally, all of my services are considered “art” and not “intended for road use” — however, if you, as the customer, choose to put it on your car, you assume all responsibility and understand that I am of no liability. It is your responsibility to research your statues prior to purchase. In general, my art does not obstruct visibility, which is generally considered legal. I do not tint or color any pieces requiring visibility as that is generally regarded illegal across the United States; I do not participate in services which are generally regarded as illegal. I am a business within the United States, and cannot speak to laws outside of my country.

Shipping, local work, etc.
I am an artist for hire - meaning I am a low cash flow business and a lot of overhead costs are floated by myself personally. With the current state of the world, logistics have become too costly, so I am only shipping U.S./APO/Canada.
I am located in Minnesota, USA. I do not travel to do work. If you are local, I do allow pickups/dropoffs, but I will not work at your location unless it is a project such as a mural - to yield my best work, being in my own studio is crucial.
-
How long do various projects take?
As much as I wish it was, EngraveBeast is not my full time job! I work 8-5pm Monday through Friday, and all of my time thereafter is dedicated to this. Your initial quote will be done within seven days, then it depends on whether or not we go through creating mockups for you and the shipping transit time. Drafting responses are a week at most. At busy times my turnover time for online-ordered customs is 1-4 weeks, usually less, but if it is on the higher end, I inform you and deeply appreciate flexibility. Timeline significantly varies by complexity of project, the material we are working with, and size. For local projects or large scale projects such as murals — I will work with you, but it is too case-dependant to give a range. For projects that take days at a time such as a mural, working time at your facility will be outside of 8-5pm, M-F. I do not make exceptions on working hours as I can not take time off.

What methods of payment do you accept and how are taxes calculated?
For 1:1 custom projects, my payment portal is powered by Square — It accepts any US-issued and most internationally-issued magstripe or chip cards bearing a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, or UnionPay International logo — it is also equipped to work with CashApp. I am working hard to offer PayPal in the future. Taxes on 1:1 customs are not factored into your quote — Square automatically registers sales tax. For my ready to order items, I utilized Etsy, therefore all payments and shipping logistics are managed by the Etsy platform.

I have a waiver for a reason: please be transparent regarding the item you are having me work on. If your item shows up and it does not match the description you’ve provided (i.e., it is spray painted instead of powder coat, its worn out, etc.) - I reserve the right to reject it. I have a track record of breaking ZERO items myself - and surprise items threaten my reputation. if for some reason shipping damage/loss occurs, I will work with you for a resolution.
If your artwork breaks or is lost during shipping, I strongly believe nobody should be left without an item they purchased due to a carrier’s negligence:
All shipments will be insured. If you are shipping me an item, you must declare its value and/or share links to where it was purchased. If you do not, I will not be responsible for assisting in any losses.
I cannot control what occurs during shipping, but if an item is lost, I will file a claim at your request.
If I file a claim, I will share the claim number, as well as investigation findings, and/or if there will be an insurance payout.
The insurance payout will go to me, which I will use to purchase and redo the item at no additional cost.
If you prefer to be fully refunded: If I bought your item, I will only refund your service fees. If you sent me the item, full refund.
If you’ve received your item safe and sound, but it breaks within the first month after purchase, I will redo work at a discounted rate, no questions asked, following the below:
All items $250 and above: Flat fee for a redo equal to 30 percent of the original cost, divided if there is more than one part (i.e., you purchased two lights, but only one broke). You must purchase the new item, and cover shipping round trip.
Items under $250: Free redo, but you cover the purchase of the new item(s) and shipping round trip.
If this is an item that cannot be replaced, we will have to work together on a case by case basis. In accordance with my service agreement, you have waived me of liability, therefore I am not obligated to provide you a replacement, but I am open to working with you to find a solution.
I opted to be a test rat and something went wrong. Thank you for letting me test a service on your item, or suggesting something new! You’re helping me learn.
The item broke: In accordance with my service agreement, you have waived me of liability, therefore I am not obligated to provide you a replacement. But I will redo the item at no additional cost, if you provide the new item and materials.
The art came off, faded, or something just isn’t looking right: Pay the shipping and I will redo it at no cost.
